Personal Thoughts and Comments:

Parents deserve high marks

A 30-year old man, born in the Chicago area, called our office the other day looking to buy a bar.  There was nothing unusual about it. We asked him if he possessed the right experience and he replied affirmatively. He went on and revealed that at the present time, he and his brother, own a restaurant as well. We happened to know the restaurant and also the previous owner.  Again, there was nothing unusual about it.

However, when we asked the young man if he and his brother were happy with the purchase of the restaurant, he implied that the previous owner wasn’t as honest as they had hoped him to be. He quickly added that their parents had taught them to be honest with others and trust people. He was disappointed because he had just realized that even when one is honest and trusts others, sometimes the others do not reciprocate.

We hope to have a chance to meet this young man soon; we will encourage him to follow his parents’ advice no matter what the occasional disappointments might be. In the long run, when people are honest,  we all benefit and help make our world a bit better than we found it.

A&W Restaurant is located at 5133 S 108th St Hales Corners, WI and the owners are Bob Mavraganis, his nephew Demetri Latsoudis and niece Crystal Kennedy. We had the chance to meet all the other day at their place and we were impressed by their hospitality and good manners. In addition to Demetri and Crystal, we also met their parents John and Effie Latsoudis.

It all started in 1968 when Bob arrived in this country from Vraila Fokidos, Greece. After working for American Motors and Graduating from Electronics school, his dream of owning a restaurant became a reality in 1975. That year, he and his brother in-law John Latsoudis  purchased their A&W restaurant and have been there since that day! In 2010 they were some changes in ownership! John retired and his half interest was transferred to his son Demetri and daughter Crystal. Now, Bob has two people to help him out!

Bob and his relatives are operating as a franchisee of A&W; A&W has approximately 1,000 restaurants in the United States & Southeast Asia.  They have restaurants located in small communities & large cities throughout the United States and they have development opportunities available throughout the country.
