INTERNATIONAL COORDINATING COMMITTEE JUSTICE FOR CYPRUS

My Fellow Greek Americans,

Greek Americans have contributed in immeasurable ways to the American culture and society.  Our ancestors came to America seeking a better life for their children and grandchildren and have thrived in business, academia, public service and countless industries.  Needless to say, we are very proud of our Greek American elected officials.

We all celebrated the election of Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis representing Brooklyn and Staten Island in 2020.  In her freshman term in Congress, she distinguished herself as an independent voice and passionately defended Cyprus and Hellenic causes.  We are outraged by the Congressional redistricting plan adopted by the New York State legislature who clearly targets Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis. 

The plan enacted on February 3^rd would dramatically change the Brooklyn portion of the Malliotakis district and would eliminate heavy Greek American voters from her district.  It would be tragic for our Greek American community to lose such a positive role model for our young people.

The redistricting plan is being challenged in State courts and hopefully, the New York State Judiciary will save us from such blatant violation of the New York State Constitution.

I call on all Greek Americans to call their State representative and voice their outrage!
