Konstantine “Dino” Marougas, who created Louks Greek Baby Donuts in Downey, California, has opened a second location of fast-casual concept Pita.GR in nearby Brea. “Our food is a tribute to the traditional Greek pita sandwich shops found throughout Greece,” according to the restaurant’s website. Along with pitas, salads, and fries, the menu offers epic to-go options like a full rotisserie lamb shoulder ($54) or the Spartan feast ($92) with six lamb chops, six pork skewers, six chicken skewers, and ample sides.

Chicago restaurateur Louis Alexakis has expanded this wildly popular brand outside Illinois for the first time. His partner in the sixth Avli location: Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. With 90 seats on two floors, the airy restaurant also features a 155-seatpatio. Avli executive chef Babis Tsotras is overseeing a menu of elevated Greek favorites. Whimsical signature cocktails include Teach Me to Dance—Greek tea-infused vodka, bergamot, orange, thyme, honey, and lemon. An extensive Greek wine list roams from Santorini to Nemea.

Formerly known as Rodos European Grill, this moderately priced spot opened in September. Menu highlights include a trio of dips, with hummus, tzatziki, and htipiti; gyros, burgers, and sandwiches, like grilled eggplant panini with fries; and kebabs, pastas, and lamb chops. “In the midst of loud music, people dancing, sun setting, waves crashing, there is an amazing aroma of all the delicious foods, that are found on this small European island” of Rodos, the restaurant’s web site says.
